Remember to wear covered shoes for day one of our camp. We are doing a big walk so students also need to bring their own lunch, drink bottle, hat and backpack.
Any medications should be clearly labelled in a zip lock bag and handed into the teachers in the morning. Cell phones will also need to be handed in. We will give students set times to use them during camp :)
Looking forward to a great camp!
The mighty Tōtara tree stands tall and proud. It protects those smaller than itself. In ancient times it was used to build waka that carried hundreds of warriors and build whare to protect people from the earths elements. As the team gifted with the name tōtara, we take on much of it’s meaning. We protect those who are younger than us and we support others by encouraging them, and being active role models in our kura. We are the leaders of KNS.

Science at Totara Time
Students enjoyed their last session of three this Friday for Totara time. After camp, students will be opting into their next activity.
These students made predictions about what would happen when adding Mentos to Diet Coke and Diet Sprite. They then thought about ways to make the coke explosion higher. Always fun making things explode!

Technology at Kaiapoi Borough
Our students have embraced the opportunity to participate in technology at KBS. Each Wednesday we head down to Borough where we learn valuable skills to do with Food technology, Metal work, and Hard and Soft Materials.
We are impressed with the level of engagement from everyone so far and we are starting to see some great work being produced!

Totara Time - Friday Afternoons
This year, we have implemented Tōtara time. Students opt into an activity that interests them. Once they've signed up, they will stay in this group for 4 Fridays and then they get the opportunity to choose a different activity for the next block.
To earn Tōtara time, students need to complete all their weekly tasks. Anyone who hasn't done this will complete their work during Tōtara time.
These students had a great time making slime during the science option at Tōtara Time...
