50 Students from Year 8 attended the Ski Trip on the 21st of August. We had a great day out starting with a lesson from some awesome instructors follow by some time to practice those skills under the guidance of parents and teachers. Some pushed ourselves to head up the chairlift, where others stayed on the magic carpet. Either way, we loved our time up the mountain.
The mighty Tōtara tree stands tall and proud. It protects those smaller than itself. In ancient times it was used to build waka that carried hundreds of warriors and build whare to protect people from the earths elements. As the team gifted with the name tōtara, we take on much of it’s meaning. We protect those who are younger than us and we support others by encouraging them, and being active role models in our kura. We are the leaders of KNS.

In both Tōtara hubs, we have been busy doing many different, fun activities and tasks including designing the town of Kaiapoi out of blocks, drawing geometric shapes from chalk, a scavenger hunt around the school, tessellations, reflection and symmetry, designing marble runs, online games and much more.
