After a thorough investigation by our Tōtara students, lot's of debating and some strong cases being presented, we have finally nailed the KNS criminal. Mrs Anderson was guilty of stealing Miss T's fish from the creative cave over the Term 1 school holidays.
We are super proud of every student who was brave enough to present their speech to their class and to the 10 students who made the finale and presented to our syndicate.
The mighty Tōtara tree stands tall and proud. It protects those smaller than itself. In ancient times it was used to build waka that carried hundreds of warriors and build whare to protect people from the earths elements. As the team gifted with the name tōtara, we take on much of it’s meaning. We protect those who are younger than us and we support others by encouraging them, and being active role models in our kura. We are the leaders of KNS.

Science in a Van
Today the Totara team had a session with Alan and Emily from Science in a Van. We learnt about forces and gravity and how these are in our every day lives. We had so much fun and loved all the jokes!

Technology Week 6
Some amazing learning happening at technology!
Students are creating their own moulds and melting metal to pour into them. We've had horses, guitars and all sorts. Students are showing lots of patience through this process. Another group is making their own paper from scratch. Check out the pictures below!

Wainui Camp 2018
Well camp was a challenge for both our hubs. The rain that cyclone Gita gave us didn't stop Room 18/19 getting out and completing their activities nor did it stop Room 20/21/22 from getting to camp. It was a bit wet, but everyone had a blast! We are super thankful to all the parents who offered their time to help out on camp, we couldn't have done it without you!

Week 1 of 2018
Welcome back everyone!
We would especially like to welcome all our new year 7 students and brand new pupils to KNS.
Our teaching team has some new faces too... Mr Henderson has come back to the year 7/8 team after a year away teaching juniors. Mrs McCarthy has joined our team after being on maternity leave and Miss Lamond is brand new to our staff after teaching at Sefton.
Today both Tōtara hubs settled into our new spaces, built relationships with people we may not have known well before and got used to some of the routines and expectations.
The teachers were please to see everyone leave with a smile at the end of the day. We seem to all have had a very positive start to the year!
